"Your Commanding Officer and Brigade Commander have informed me that you distinguished yourself on 21st March 1918. When on observation duties you remained on your post throughout the day although subjected to intense fire during greater part of the day, and directed fire on numerous large bodies of the enemy. I have read their report with much pleasure." Major-General commanding 6th Division.
