Citation

Awarded the Military Cross (London Gazette 8 March 1919) as a Temporary Second Lieutenant, 13th (Service) Battalion DLI.

"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance from Beaurevoir to Le Cateau from 5th to 10th October 1918. He took charge of his company when the company commander was wounded. He led his men through a heavy machine-gun barrage, and after being wounded in the head continued to direct operations."
