William Tame

Born in Hamlope, Buckinghamshire, he was a labourer before he enlisted as a Private in the 68 LI in 1840, aged 16 years. He served in Canada, Ireland and Malta before the Crimean War. He was promoted to Corporal in January 1855 and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in February 1855. William Tame was mortally wounded in the trenches outside Sebastopol and died on 6 June 1855.
