Biography

Born in 1880 in Durham City and educated at Durham School, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 3 (Militia) DLI in June 1900. He was granted a Regular commission in 1901, with 1 DLI. He served in the Boer War with 3 DLI and the Mounted Infantry. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1904, but retired in 1907 through ill health. He died in 1909, aged 29 years. The medals of Christopher Rowlandson's father and brother are also on display.
