Biography

Born in 1922, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1942 and fought with the 16th Battalion DLI in Italy. He was Mentioned in Despatches in 1945. He joined 1 DLI in Greece in late 1945 and was promoted to Captain in 1949. From 1952 to 1955, he was on the Brigade Staff at Suez. He rejoined 1 DLI in 1955 and served in Cyprus from 1958 to 1959.

In 1961, he became Training Major of 8 DLI in Durham and then moved to the Light Infantry Depot at Shrewsbury, where he remained until his retirement in 1974.

Tom Periam died at Leicester in 1977, aged 56 years.
