Thomas Connor O'Leary

He was born in Tralee, the son of a physician, in 1821 and trained as a doctor and surgeon at Trinity College, Dublin. In 1847, he was appointed Assistant Surgeon to the 59 Foot and, in 1855, replaced Surgeon Graves in the 68 Light Infantry. He served with the 68 LI until the end of the Crimean War and was awarded the Turkish Order of the Mejidie. After the Crimean War, he continued as an Army Surgeon serving with several regiments. He retired as a Surgeon- General in 1881. Thomas O'Leary died at Bath in 1885.
