Zachariah Miller

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, he was a miner before he enlisted in the 68 Regiment in October 1808. He served in the Peninsular War and fought at Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees and St. Sebastian. He was badly wounded by a bullet in the right ankle during the action at Vera, on 31 August 1813. Zachariah Miller was discharged, aged 25 years, in October 1813, as "unfit for further service".
