Born in 1904, he was a miner before he enlisted as a Regular soldier in the DLI in 1927. He was posted to the 2nd Battalion DLI and served for 23 years seeing action on the North West Frontier of India in 1930, in Belgium and France in 1940 and in Burma from 1943 to 1945. He was discharged in 1950.
Arthur Guest died in Ashington in 1984, aged 78.
