James Grant

Born in Glasgow, he was a weaver before he enlisted in the 68 LI in 1809, aged 25 years. He fought at Walcheren and was wounded in the knee by a shell splinter. He also fought throughout the Peninsular War and was promoted to Sergeant in 1813. He was discharged in May 1834 as a Colour Sergeant. For the last 15 years, James Grant served as a Recruiting Sergeant.
