Educated at Eton, he was commissioned as an Ensign in the 68 Light Infantry in March 1812. He was badly wounded at the battle of Vittoria on 21 June 1813. After his recovery, he rejoined his Regiment and served until December 1818, when he went on to half pay. John Fowke died in 1852.
