John Ferris

Born in Lurgan, Ireland, he was a labourer and a Private in the Armagh Militia before he joined the 68 LI in 1855, aged 29 years. Despite his "habitual drunkenness", he served for 21 years, including the New Zealand War, and took his discharge in 1874.
