David Edgar

Born in Dalry, Scotland, he was a labourer before he enlisted for 10 years service in the East India Company's infantry in 1854, aged 18 years. He was posted to the 1 Bombay European Regiment in 1855 but transferred to the 2 Bombay European LI and fought in the Persian campaign, 1856-57.
