Little is known, as yet, about Percy Dixon but he served in India, as a Regular soldier, with the 1st Battalion DLI before and during the Great War and fought in the Afghanistan campaign of 1919, as a Colour Sergeant. He later transferred to The Leicester Regiment.
He was awarded the Delhi Durbar Medal - one of 104 men of 1 DLI to receive it. This medal commemorates the proclamation of King George V as Emperor of India at Delhi in December 1911, which was attended by the 1st Battalion DLI.
