John Clough

Born in Manchester, he was a labourer before he enlisted in the 2 Bombay European Light Infantry in 1859, aged 21 years. He served with this Regiment and the 106 Light Infantry, rising to the rank of Sergeant in 1869. He took his discharge in 1880 after 21 years. He was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and, later, the Meritorious Service Medal.
