George Canty

Born in Galway, Ireland, he was a labourer before he enlisted in the 2 Bombay European LI in 1844, aged 20 years. He served for 14 years and fought in Persia, before he was discharged in 1859, with a pension of 9 pence a day, as a result of epilepsy.
