Charles Terrington Aitchison

Born on 28 May 1825, he was the son of Major General Andrew Aitchison of the Bombay Army. Charles Aitchison was educated at Addiscombe and then joined the 2nd Bombay European Light Infantry in 1842 as an Ensign. He fought in the Persian Expedition of 1856-7 and then in the Indian Mutiny and took part in the capture of Shorapore in 1858, where he commanded a force of 200 European soldiers. He later rose to the rank of General and was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1875. Charles Aitchison died in 1919.
