Robert Allison
Biography | Medals | GlossaryBiography
In September 1914, volunteers from all over County Durham assembled at Cocken Hall, outside Durham City, to form the 18th Battalion DLI - the Durham Pals. Robert Allison from Darlington was one of these volunteers and was given the low Regimental number "6". Though he was posted to "A" Company, he did not go with the rest of 18 DLI to Egypt in late 1915 but appears to have been transferred to either the 14th or 15th Battalion DLI and then saw action on the Western Front. Robert Allison died in 1962 aged 70.
