Harry Dixon

Born in Bridlington, he was a labourer and a Militiaman in 3 East Yorkshire Regiment when he enlisted in the DLI, as a Regular, in 1889, aged 18 years. He served with both 1 and 2 DLI before he joined the Reserve in 1897. In 1899, he "rejoined the Colours" and served in South Africa with 1 DLI. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1902 and he remained with 1 DLI until he was discharged in 1908. During the Great War, he served with the Yorkshire Light Infantry. Harry Dixon, who was awarded both the Meritorious Service Medal and the Imperial Service Medal, died at Hull in 1955.
