Frederick Barron Poole

Born in May 1891 in Burneston in North Yorkshire, he joined the 18th Battalion DLI - the Durham Pals - in 1914 and served throughout the Great War, both in Egypt in 1915 and on the Western Front, where he was badly gassed. Demobilised in January 1919, Frederick Poole worked as a gardener in civilian life. He died in September 1959, aged 68.
