William Fred Collinson

Little is as yet known about William Collinson other than he served as a Private with the 1st Battalion DLI during the Korean War.

In September 1953 the Regulars of 1 DLI, including many National Servicemen, landed in South Korea to join the United Nations forces fighting the Chinese and North Koreans. There were no major battles in the hills north of the River Imjin but the Durhams suffered over 100 casualties, including 24 killed, in conditions very like those in the trenches in WW1
