Biography

From Houghton-le-Spring, he was commissioned in 15 DLI as a Temporary Second Lieutenant. He was awarded the Military Cross for bravery at Crawley Ridge Trench on 27 June 1916, during a wire-cutting operation under very heavy fire and for taking command of a company on 1 July 1916, during the attack on Shelter Wood. He was missing presumed killed in action on 16 September 1916, during an attack on Gird Trench, near Gueudecourt. Arthur Morley, who was 26 years old, has no known grave.
