Archibald George Robert Lawrance

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, his father had served as Regular soldier with the the 2nd Battalion DLI in Egypt and South Africa (see Medal Case 28). Archibald Lawrance enlisted in Sunderland and was killed in action at Hooge near Ypres on 9 August 1915 whilst serving as a Sergeant with "D" Company 2 DLI - his father's old battalion. He was 22 years old. Archibald Lawrance has no known grave but he is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres.
