Dingley. E, Pte 17 Jun 1919 101720 Bermondsey S E

"At Comines on the 14th. October, 1918, a large number of wounded were lying in exposed positions after No. 3 Bridge had been established over the River LYS. This man was detailed by his O.C. Company to assist the Stretcher Bearers as they were too few to clear all the casualties. He made three journeys across the bridge under very heavy M. G. and shell fore and on each occasion brought back a wounded man to safety. His gallantry and coolness throughout were remarkable and must have inspired all his comrades."
