For Military Cross: "For most marked gallantry and devotion to duty. In the attack north of Avelghem, on 31st October, 1918, he rushed a farm, under heavy machine-gun and artillery fire, and captured three machine-guns and thirty prisoners. His disregard of danger was a very fine example to his men.!"
