DSO 26 July 1918:
"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during recent operations. He showed great coolness and skill while commanding the battalion, particularly on one occasion when the brigade on his right was forced back. Also he stayed in the trenches for four days after being wounded in the foot. He was a fine example to his men."
