Biography

From Trimdon Colliery in County Durham, he served with 5 DLI in the Great War. He was awarded the Military Medal in 1916 during the battle of the Somme and gained the DCM in June 1918, during the battle of the Aisne, for making a daring reconnaissance under heavy fire. Sergeant Luke's other medals have been lost.
