Biography

He enrolled as a Private with the East Suffolk Militia in 1808 and volunteered for the 68 Regiment from the Militia in May 1811, just before the 68 Regiment sailed to the Peninsula. He fought at Salamanca, Vittoria and Orthes and may have been wounded. In December 1814, he was promoted to Corporal. John Bearham was discharged from the 68 Light Infantry in March 1817.
