Bug Out Gear patrol pack
Patrols could last anything from a few hours to a day or more depending on what the soldiers encountered. Inside their rucksack would be items like food, warm clothes, water, any personal luxuries and spare ammunition. On top would always be their own medical kit, which was easily accessible if they or anyone else was injured. The toy mouse on this rucksack was used by the soldier to engage with the Afghan children he met; showing a friendly approach was important in winning the trust and respect of the Afghans.
