Personal identification patch
Every solider in the 3 RIFLES Battle Group had their own unique patch; this example belonged to Serjeant Major John Pepper. The group of letters and numbers spell out the first two letters of his surname, and the last four digits of his service number. Below that is his blood type, an essential piece of information for medics if he were to be wounded.
