Tunic, 2nd Durham Rifle Volunteers


Sergeant's Full Dress Tunic, 2nd Durham Rifle Volunteers, 1880-1887, This jacket is rifle green with red piping and black buttons. On the right sleeve is the rank badge of an Armourer Sergeant. The 7 five-pointed stars above the right cuff are for 35 efficient years service in the Volunteers. The 2nd Durham Rifle Volunteers was formed in south-west Durham in 1880 from five old Rifle Corps and was the ancestor of the 6th (Territorial) Battalion DLI. Acc No: 356
