Water Bottle, 1st Battalion DLI, South Africa, 1899-1902. This Boer water bottle was brought home as a souvenir from South Africa by Major The Honourable William Vane, who served with the 1st Battalion DLI during the Boer War. William Vane was the author of the first detailed history of the DLI published in 1914. Acc No: 436/4
