Biography

Born in 1788 in Bristol, he trained as a doctor at Edinburgh in 1812. He served with the 68 LI in the Peninsula, as an Assistant Surgeon and, later, in Canada. He retired, as Surgeon, in 1838 and settled in Kingston, Canada. He was presented with this Regimental Medal for "Merit & Faithful Service" in 1817. This is the only known example of this medal. Richard Williams died in Canada in 1847.
