G Wardropper

Little is as yet known about Private G Wardropper who served in the 1st Battalion DLI in Korea. In September 1952, 1 DLI including many National Servicemen landed in South Korea to join the United Nations forces fighting the Chinese and North Koreans. There were no major battles in the hills north of the River Imjin but the Durhams suffered over 100 casualties, including 24 killed, in conditions very like those in the trenches in WW1.
