Arthur Hird

Born in Barnard Castle, he joined the DLI in 1897 as a Regular and was attached to 3 (Militia) DLI as a Bugler. He fought in South Africa and was presented with his medal by King Edward VII on 29 July 1901 at Marlborough House. Arthur Hird took his discharge in 1909, aged 37.
