Biography

He served as a Sergeant with 2 DLI during the Egyptian campaign and died of disease at Asswan on 15 May 1886. During its service in Egypt and the Sudan, 2 DLI lost some 57 men from enteric fever and dysentry. The names of the dead are recorded on a plaque in Durham Cathedral.
