Biography

After training at the Depot at Fenham Barracks, Robert Bulmer was posted to the 1st Battalion DLI in 1932, moving to 2 DLI in 1937. He fought with 2 DLI in Belgium in 1940 and later in India and Burma. After 1945, he served in the Regimental Depot at Brancepeth Castle, but rejoined 1 DLI for the Korean War, as Company Quartermaster Sergeant and was wounded in action in July 1953. In 1956, he became Orderly Room Quartermaster Sergeant at Brancepeth, finally retiring in 1958, after almost 27 years service. Robert Bulmer died at Barnard Castle in 1987, aged 76.
