Biography

He enrolled as a Private with the Nottingham Militia in December 1809 and volunteered for the 68 Regiment in May 1812. He fought at Vittoria, Pyrenees and Orthes and may have been wounded, possibly at Orthes on 27 February 1814. He was promoted to Corporal in February 1815, but reduced to Private again in April 1816. Vincent Boot bought his discharge in December 1817 on payment of £20.
