Biography

From Bensham, Gateshead, John Hall was a painter before he enlisted in the 18th Battalion The Durham Light Infantry on 21 August 1916, for the duration of the War. From July 1918 to November 1918, he served as a Stretcher Bearer with 18 DLI on the Western Front but from then until March 1919 he was a battalion postman.
